Your ship rotates left and right with the arrow keys, while the up arrow provides forward thrust. The ship has momentum, so it will continue drifting until you apply counter-thrust. This physics-based movement system requires practice to master but creates incredibly satisfying and precise control once you get the hang of it.
Large asteroids break into two medium-sized pieces that fly in opposite directions. Medium asteroids then split into two small, fast-moving fragments. Small asteroids are destroyed completely when shot. The key strategy is positioning yourself so the fragments split away from your ship rather than toward it.
Hyperspace instantly teleports your ship to a random location on the screen when you're in danger. However, it's risky because you might materialize inside an asteroid or right in front of a UFO. Use hyperspace only as a last resort when you're completely surrounded with no escape route.
Focus on destroying UFOs whenever they appear since they're worth 200-1000 points each. Advanced players practice 'asteroid farming' - leaving one small asteroid alive while clearing multiple UFO waves for maximum points. Always break large asteroids from safe positions and use the screen wrapping to your tactical advantage.
