Run 3 is a 3D space-tunnel infinite-runner platformer made by Joseph Cloutier (Player_03), released on Kongregate in 2014. It is the third and most-played game in his Run series, with 300+ hand-crafted levels in Explore Mode and an endless Infinite Mode. The game originally ran on Flash; the modern version is built in OpenFL/Haxe and runs natively in any browser.
Run 1 was a single-character single-mode 2D-feeling endless runner. Run 2 added more level variety and a few characters. Run 3 added: (1) a 300+ level Explore Mode arranged on a branching star map, (2) five distinct characters with different abilities, (3) a much more polished gravity-rotation mechanic, and (4) Infinite Mode as a separate side activity. Most players consider Run 3 the definitive entry.
The level is a tube — you run along the inside. When you jump onto a wall or ceiling, that surface becomes your new floor and the tube rotates underneath you. This means every level can be solved from multiple orientations, and reading which surface to commit to is the core skill of the game. A hole in the floor is often easily avoided by running along the wall.
